Tyrone and I made the best reduced-fat, reduced-sugar banana bread, inspired by how unhealthy the Jammin' Java banana bread recipe is. We improvised quite a bit but it turned out beautifully!
Bake our highly-modified version and taste how yummy it is for yourself. This banana bread will not give you an obscene sugar buzz like other more cakey versions, but it will satisfy a sweet craving.
1 1/2 c. stone ground wheat flour 6 overripe bananas 3/8 c. sugar 3/8 c. Splenda 1 egg and 1 egg white 1/2 tsp. salt 3/4 tsp. baking powder 4 tbsp. melted butter (1/3 the amount my work recipe called for) 1/2 tsp. nutmeg 1/4 tsp. paprika walnut pieces, sunflower seeds, and pecan pieces to taste
After mashing bananas, mix all ingredients together. Pour into miniature loaf pans. Bake at 375 degrees for about 45 minutes. Check often; banana bread is done when a knife poked in its center comes out clean and its color is golden brown. This recipe makes eight servings, and each is approximately 250-300 calories depending on how many nuts you choose to use.
Enjoy, kiddos! |

On the way back to the Arkansas Archaeological Survey building, EJ allowed me to stop and examine the artifacts in a Dollar General parking lot. Here is the man himself with the mummyhead. |

It has been confirmed over the last couple of weeks that my life is indeed weird. I'll elaborate on this sometime soon. |

This morning I kicked my osteology quiz's ass. Then, I felt an urge to watch the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I read the books as an adolescent, but I never saw the movies because I thought that casting a cute, 5'6"-tall boy (Elijah Wood) as Frodo was a misrepresentation of the Tolkien characterization, even if they did give him very hairy feet.
Did you guys see the movies after reading the books? What did you think, and would it be a waste of 9 1/2 hours to watch it? |

In a moment of rebellion, I dropped my Western Civ II class for Gerontology. (I loves me some old people.) Now I don't have class on Mondays or Fridays, and I can still easily graduate in December. Hooray!
P.S. Someone shattered my passenger side window and stole a shopping bag that contained a jacket, a sweater, and $20 last night. My car insurance has a $300 deductible, so probably none of it will be covered. That sucks, a lot. Also, I'm broke. |

I rarely get online anymore. I do read your posts about three times per week, though.
Sam and I painted my new room the color of green after-dinner mints ( http://www.ohnuts.com/UploadedImages/smImage/WM_After Dinner Mint.JPG ). It's very pretty. Now I just have to finish sanding my floor and white-wash it. I've decorated with black, white, and off-white things, and they're nice complements to the color I chose. Hopefully I can confine my rather bland taste in color-coordination to my room, so I won't drive my roommate crazy. I'm admittedly a little obsessive-compulsive about matching decor.
I've been wanting a Mutual Appreciation poster more than anything else, and after six months of searching, I finally found where to buy one online: The Official Mutual Appreciation Website. Doh!
My class schedule for Spring 2008 currently includes biological anthropology, figure painting, western civilization II, and an independent study in drawing. I want to take art history survey II at NWACC, if it will transfer. I can't wait to graduate in December. I'll be a lot less poor even if I just get another coffee shop job full-time.
I'm getting paid an unspecified amount of money (probably almost nothing) to design a thank you card for the U of A Arts Department. Luckily, the design must not include a razorback. I really need to get on that.
This may be my favorite music video ever. |

Move-in day is here!
I got less than three hours of sleep last night and began cleaning with Jordan (Audrey helped, too) at 8:30 this morning. The house was a wreck--really dirty.
I have lots of things I want to paint: my room, the stairwell wall, and numerous spots that have been missed in the living room and kitchen.
I also need to strip the paint off my bedroom hardwood floor (it's purple for no apparent reason) before I whitewash it. Christian is supposed to come get the remainder of her stuff later today so that I can begin the project and get moved in.
There is a lot of junk in the yard. I hope they take it, or I'll have to borrow a truck to haul it off somewhere.
I'm very tired. |

Finals are over. I just showed John my "The Dalai Lama Goes to Hollywood" cartoon, and he apparently (read: luckily) shares my sense of humor. Sam just told me that he is taking me out for "booshi" (sushi with his boo) tonight in celebration. Two more semesters, nine more courses to go until graduation. |

Everything's going well, except that my body is covered in either (A) thousands of flea bites or (B) thousands of bumps belonging to some terrible, unrecognizable rash.
I have seen 0 fleas since said bumps arrived, and I don't know of anything I'm allergic to.
Sam and I are happy. I passed art history. I'm going to finish all of my projects this semester without much further stress.
I made very bad tofu and vegetable curry last night, so I'll have to get Renee's advice on a recipe next time. That girl knows her Thai food.
I'm reading Couples by John Updike. I guess it's his raciest novel. I don't think he writes women very well. |

I was working my ass off in the lithography room until 7:15 this morning. I arrived at the studio at noon yesterday, and I got 1 1/2 hours of sleep. I did, however, take 2 1/2 hours off to watch Live Free or Die Hard with Sam and Al. It's my new favorite movie in the Godawful genre. (That Bruce Willis. Gets me every time.)
In other news, I'd like to THANK GOODNESS FOR EXTENSIONS. John told Sheryl and me that we could bring in our diptych Drawing III finals on Tuesday at 3 PM instead of tomorrow. That means (A) I can sleep tonight and (B) I have all weekend to finish this shit.
Brock, you may want to attempt to contact The Phantom Professor if you want the extension too.
Some of my prints turned out really well, but my hands are permanently disgusting. I plan to accomplish nearly nothing today... Napping, showering, and gymning it up at Ye Olde HPER. |
